It's real

San Antonio contact sought actively, strictly as an emergency point of contact.

GaGa is at Kelly AFB and has food, water, a clean place to be, and restroom facilities. We have family going to get her from Houston, but if there is a local contact in San Antonio who is willing to be an emergency contact for her, I would be extremely grateful.

One down, one to go. This is, in my view, good news for Uncle Al as well. The FEMA folks who were involved in GaGa's rescue know about him and where he is. He *will* get out.

Yay!!! Excellent news all around!!

I don't know anyone in San Antonio, but I have friends in Austin... if you aren't able to find anyone closer, let me know and I'll try a few of them to see if they'd be willing to help out (unfortunately, one of them is out of the running due to a recent knee injury -- he can't drive at the moment).

We'll be okay, I think. Two folks are on their way from Houston to San Antonio now to get her -- I'm sure that there will be crowds to deal with and that it will take some time to get to her, but it's only a matter of time at this point. The only real need is a potential one, for a local point of contact for information, should it be needed. Thanks so much for everything!

Oh, that is wonderful news, Chris! *hugs*

Thanks for the support, Cal.

Oh, Chris. [hugs you] So wonderful to hear!

Will keep fingers crossed for Uncle Al too.

I'm getting cramps from the crossed digits, but at least I have reason to hope now. I fear the crash and burn that's heading my way soon, as I *know* I've been in denial of the reality of what's going on, but Mike will be here tonight to get the kids, and I will have in-person support system for a day or two.

In the meanwhile, though, you guys have kept me going. Thank you hardly approaches it.

Oh, thank god. I'm so glad she's okay *hugs you all*

We will all survive this, and come out stronger for it, right?

Oh, Chris, that's wonderful news! I'm so happy you've found her! ::hugs you tight::
Sep. 3rd, 2005 08:39 pm (UTC)
Hugs right back at you. I hope and pray it's just a matter of time now til lots and lots of families and survivors are reunited.
Sep. 3rd, 2005 04:34 pm (UTC)
Fantastic news, Chris!
Sep. 3rd, 2005 08:38 pm (UTC)
Indeed. And THANK YOU THANK YOU for sending melange my way. We're all set now, I think, but there were definitely families with no resources down there at all who they might be able to help with.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} The e-mail you shared brought me to tears. I'm so glad GaGa is all right. Will continue to hold you and your family in my prayers, and hope that Uncle Al is heard from very soon.

*hugs back, hard*

The stories coming out of Nola and MS right now are heartrending, and uplifting too. Thank you for being there.
Sep. 3rd, 2005 04:40 pm (UTC)
That's great news, Chris. I'm sure you're beyond relieved. Sending good thoughts and prayers for Uncle Al, too.

Good wishes for your family winging their way, as well.

Re: YAY! And Woot!
Ah, Rae. Thanks for the giggle, and the support. The nickname's especially taxing out loud ;-) Overall, what's really wonderful is that she seems to be doing unbelievably well. Uncle Rick, who got out much earlier, is having a horrible time of it. All of the survivors of Katrina, and particularly areas like the tiny towns along the MS and AL coasts and Nola are going to need some *serious* counseling.

OMG...I'm so glad that your GaGa got out...*keeps thinking of your uncle* *HUGS*

Me too, me too.

*hugs back*

Oh, thank goodness.

Through all this, you've been so incredibly strong. I'm in awe of you a little.
Sep. 3rd, 2005 08:34 pm (UTC)
*hugs you*

It's easy to look strong online in black and white. There have been long, long spans where strong definitely hasn't been a good descriptor. But this *thing* we do on the internet? Is a phenomenal thing. I think Mer was right on in that we geeks need to get more involved...when I see what we can accomplish in scattershot mode, it seems clear that organized we'd be invincible.

Thank God!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in UC for the weekend. The most I had to worry about was making sure I topped off the big-ass tank on this car before I got near Hwy 51.

Friend Charlotte's mother was at Biloxi Hospital and was ambulanced out to Birmingham two days after. Unbelievably, her house had one and a half inches of water, is fine and is located 1/2 mile off the beach. Charlotte is on her way to B'ham now to visit her and will be using my house as a spend the night spot for the next few weeks as they stabilize her mother's heart and manage to get her rehydrated and out of pain. She's not doing great, but she's a helluva lot better than most and I'm thankful for that.

Now, praying for your uncle... *prays real hard*

Love you,

Keep plugging, babe. We all need every vibe we can get, I think. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out on your end. I know you've got friends and family everywhere down there.

I'm really glad she's ok and that it's looking good for Uncle A.

I've been thinking about you and yours.

Thank you for everything, L. I am so grateful to have you guys out there. Words will never describe how literally sanity saving it's been to have such a wonderful community wishing us well.

Oh, thank goodness! I'll continue to keep your Uncle Al in my prayerthoughts.

Thank you.

New Orleans so desperately needs some of you Logistics people. I've been listening in on the National Guard frequency as much as I can. They've been trying to figure out a) where the buses for the convention center are supposed to take people b)how to get fuel to the buses then c)now that they have fuel, where the buses are for about 5 hours now.
