Yesterday was our 12th wedding anniversary, and to celebrate, we went to an alumni crawfish boil. The afternoon was warm and lazy, the food wonderful, and the beer Abita. We spent hours sitting in the shade, gossiping about old classmates and professors, and watching groups of children chase whatever mischief they could find in the trees.
I can't believe it's been 12 years since we were married, much less that it's been 17 years since we started dating. That's nearly half my life, but I remember the beginning like it was yesterday. It was, wasn't it?
