Off to the races

It is Derby Day in Jacobs' households across the states. Off for a weekend of horse racing and Shakespeare. Squee! Wallace Acton has the *lead* in Richard III. His turn in Volpone a few years ago is the highlight of my theatre going life thus far. Can't *wait*. And it's about time for me to win the betting pool on the Derby, too.

Hasta La Vista -- I'll check in from the In-Law's if I can. Y'all get busy makinggood with the fannish fun this weekend.

(why do I feel as if I should end this with licking and sex?????)

I just read a great review -- from where, I can't remember -- of Acton's Richard III. :-))))) Enjoy! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

And the races too. [grin]

It was an *amazing* performance. Fascinating modernist kind of set with standout performances all along the line. Acton *was* Richard III, and the supporting cast were fabulous. The Shakespeare Theatre in downtown DC is just an amazing place. So much wonderful talent. One of the few, very few, things I miss about living in Northern VA is those season tickets. And I almost cried when I saw that Acton is doing Hamlet this summer. I won't get to see it and I think the man just is the epitome of the crazy, tragic Dane. All that angst and black humor and agile faceness.

I sound all fangirly...

Wonder where that comes from?

You're going to the races? I envy. Have fun! (Says the girl who grew up in a horse breeding family.)

The Derby party was an absolute blast. We didn't get to go to KY this year, though -- only to Virginia. But we had a wonderful time, and followed it up with Shakespeare downtown on Sunday.

Were you actualy at the Derby? My boss was, as well, having gotten an invitation when someone dropped out of a box a group of people he knew had purchased at the finish line.

My five dollars on TenMostWanted to win is staying in Kentucky, though. ;)

Oh wow! A box on the finish line??? Lucky, lucky boss. We were in VA, though, not in KY this year. Maybe we'll make it to Louisville again next year, though...one can hope, at any rate. My $5 on Buddy Gil went straight down the toilet ;-)

Because, really, is there anything that shouldn't?

Heh. Yeah. Well...I'm not always so much into the saliva factor at the in-laws' house, but enough mint juleps do amazing things to your perspective :-)
