I live!

Well, here endeth the week. Thank god. I feel like I've been living Alexander's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad *week*... I won't go into the details here, except to say that the new car had issues, the site was beaten to a bloody plup by assholes & bots, the admin interface is deader than a doornail, I am still blocked on Carthage, Showtime had some disappointing moments on second viewing, son # is sick, work is insane again (still?), and I can't believe I just had a ten day period of time off.

Now, that's better. Some things I'm really grateful for:

--pretty, pretty fic from Annie, Harmony, Herself, Magpie, and lots of others
--moments of chat with MW
--Kimi (nashvillain615)finally finding her way to LJ
--the support of lots of wonderful folks this week
--older son reading The Dark is Rising and loving it as much as I did
--husband who is willing to listen to me rant and rave pretty much nonstop
--good friends
--Wild Turkey

Next week, better days. I've earned 'em.

Better Week to Come
And you're going to have it too. Just wait and see. And by golly, that car is gonna be fine. You just have to give it a name and talk to it real sweet.

Or give it to the SO.

As for Carthage? We can do other things. *smirk*

Better days indeed -- my fingers are crossed!

(And oh, The Dark is Rising -- I really like that Susan Cooper series, but that particular novel! I first listened to it on audiotape, read by one of my favourite actors, and he made that whole snow-on-the-skylight sequence so frightening that I had to shut off the tape and walk around for several minutes. :-) )

Yes, yes, yes! That's the one in the whole set (of which I adored all) that sticks with me the most. It was just amazing.

I'm in awe of how much I'm loving re-reading all these books that were my friends and teachers and comfort way back when. It's probably the first time I feel that I've truly connected with my older son (he's 8)...bonding over juvenile fantasy. Thank goodness he's got good taste!

[crosses fingers as well] I would normally say that after such a week, things can only get better, but I know better than to tempt the Powers That Screw You Over.

Thanks so much for all your hard work, Chris!

And, btw--Dark is Rising? Coolness. Read that for a children's lit class I took in the fall, and enjoyed it muchly. Must now get to the other books in the sequence. :-)
