Cookies & Journeys

I'm 9 dozen into it, and YUM! I love baking, but only go all out once a year. The plain chocolate chips are done, as well as the walnut variation. Mexican wedding cookies next (best cookie in the world!), and then snickerdoodles and peanut butter ones.

Sugary, buttery goodness.

Baking is therapeutic, I swear. The only downside to all the thinking it lets me do is that my hands are too mucked up to go digging through the boxes for the book I need. There was a post today somewhere that mentioned how Buffy's story mirrors the Descent of Innana closely. And that reminded me of how odd I've always thought it to be that Joss was giving *Spike* a classic feminine journey. I need to find the book and look at the chapters on feminine vs masculine journeys in classic texts...it laid it all out very clearly and I want to do a comparison. Joss called him his "Ulysses" at one point -- I'm not so sure that's the way it's turning out.

Oops. There's the timer. Back to the oven!

Mmmmmmm ... now I'm having a homemade cookie craving, and it's all your fault! I may have to bake tomorrow (too tired today).

I would love to read more of your thoughts about Spike and the classic feminine journey. I hope you'll write more about it here!

Mmm - I'm making cookies too. And eating them, since I'm sure I won't have a chance during the next few days, and then they'll probably all be gone. Sugar rush!

And Spike is totally the heroine of BtVS. *g*

Mmmm, cookies. One of the reasons I hope my mom lives forever is because of her cookies--she made chocolate chip walnut, Heath Bar, Mexican wedding, and gumdrop cookies this year, as well as peanut brittle and caramel corn. It's no wonder I weigh 30 pounds more than I should. :-)
